CALL FOR PAPERS: EPIP 2023 annual conference (11-13 September 2023)

By 24 February 2023No Comments

The 18th European Policy for Intellectual Property (EPIP) Annual Conference will take place from 11-13 September in Kraków, a city renowned for its beauty, and culture. It will be hosted by the Jagiellonian University – one of the oldest universities not only in Poland but in the world, founded in 1364 by King Casimir III the Great.

The theme and topics discussed during the conference will also provide additional reason to travel (note that the conference will be in person only). This year’s title, ‘IP, innovation and technology – challenging the present, inspiring the future’, will prompt scholars, practitioners, policymakers and other IP aficionados – to consider the issues related to the relationship between IP and innovation, the impact of new technologies on IP law, challenges and opportunities for IP systems in shaping sustainable innovation, health business policies, particularly in the digital market, and many others. The conference includes a PhD workshop on the 11th September, free of charge for PhD students registered at the conference.

Along with individual sessions touching – directly or indirectly – on these topics, themed sessions will also be offered focusing on four main leading themes:

  • IP system at the crossroads
  • IP for innovation, business and society
  • IP in the digital world
  • interfaces between IP, innovation and regulatory systems

These topics raise fundamental questions which have long been at the core of CREATe’s research agenda, an affinity translated in our long-standing relationship with EPIP. CREATe had the honour to host EPIP 10th annual conference in 2015 at the University of Glasgow, where the role of Intellectual Property in the Creative Economy was explored. As CREATe celebrates its 10th anniversary, the conference offers an excellent opportunity to look to the future of IP-related legal and economic research. In this spirit, we salute the EPIP 18th Annual Conference title: “challenging the present, inspiring the future”.

Submissions on all IP-related topics are invited and those related to the conference leading theme and topics are encouraged before the 30th April 2023 via the conference submission platform.
