European Parliament adopts position on Copyright Directive

The European Parliament has adopted a position on the Copyright Directive, with 438 votes in favour, 226 against, and 39 abstentions. EPP amendments to article 11 passed with 393 votes to 279, and article 13 with 366 votes to 297. Most of the original language of each of these provisions remain intact, and a side-by-side comparison of the original Commission text vs the agreed amendments is available here. There will be a final vote after the trilogue negotiations, estimated in January 2019.
