Statement from European academics: “Articles 11 and 13 must go”

24 March

A statement has been released by European academics calling for the deletion of Articles 11 and 13, in a rare instance of scientific consensus on a contested policy issue. Quoting from an earlier open letter which cautioned that the proposed articles did not serve the public interest, the statement concludes that “[t]his diagnosis is still correct”. Whilst recognising improvements had been made to the text, the statement claims that the available evidence still suggests that “Articles 11 and 13 will do more harm than good”.
