Wikipedia express concerns over Copyright Directive

A tweet by Jimmy Wales (founder of Wikipedia) has expressed concern regarding the provisions of the Copyright Directive. Citing a blogpost by Jan Gerlach, the primary concern for websites such as Wikipedia are the terms of article 13, which the blogpost states “harm freedom of expression online by inducing large-scale implementation of content detection systems”. Further detail is provided on the ineffectiveness of content filtering technology, as well as the high cost involved in implementing such systems.
