Updated negotiating mandate granted to Romanian Presidency at COREPER meeting

8 February 2019

Following a previous failed Council vote, and subsequent Franco-German agreement, the Romanian presidency has been granted an updated negotiating mandate in respect of the Copyright Directive. Reportedly, eight countries dissented, being Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg, Malta and Slovakia. A final discussion, including the European Parliament, will take place at a trilogue meeting next week (anticipated 11/12 February).
