Summary

On 15 November 2011, the government announced its intention to introduce a small claims track in the PCC. This project provides a critical assessment of the first three years of that initiative, with a particular emphasis on its importance to, and uptake by, the cultural and creative industries.

A longitudinal study of quantitative data from court files over the first three years is planned. This seeks to shed light on the type of creative businesses making use of the small claims court, the type of claims lodged with the court, and the role of the court in promoting and protecting creative enterprise in England and Wales.
