French rights holder reps accuse Google of a “campaign of disinformation”

4 December 2018

A recent statement issued by French rights holder representatives has accused Google (parent company of YouTube) of a “campaign of disinformation”, “blackmail” and “abusing their dominant position”. The letter goes on to thank the French Minister of Culture (Franck Riester) for their support of the Directive, which they claim is “essential to rebalance today’s inegalitarian value sharing between platforms and industries of culture and media”.

The letter (in French) is available here.
