Entertainment entrepreneur expresses support for Copyright Directive

14 November 2018

Entertainment entrepreneur and actor, Ryan Wiik (co-founder of WR Entertainment) has expressed support for the Copyright Directive in an interview with inVentures. In the interview, Wiik notes how current monopolies in the entertainment industry, and subsequent reduction in pay for artists, have resulted in a lack of innovative or creative outputs (in particular referring to the prevalence of reboots and sequels as a “safer” bet). Whilst Wiik acknowledges that article 13 is “debatable”, they expect that the introduction of new organisations, similar to the Federal Trade Commission in the US, would ensure that the internet remains free regardless.
