This is an exciting opportunity to join CREATe, the UK Copyright & Creative Economy Centre at the University of Glasgow. One of the posts will be formally liked to the Centre for Cultural Policy Research (CCPR) in the School of Culture and Creative Arts.
As part of new work for the AHRC funded Creative Industries Policy & Evidence Centre (PEC), we will appoint two postdocs for research on the platform economy (for two years in the first instance). If you are a legal scholar interested in working empirically, an economist, sociologist or management researcher who intends to develop work on regulation, or a communications scholar who is advancing innovative quantitative and qualitative digital methods, we would like to hear from you.
At the same time, a two year lectureship in Intellectual Property Law is available in the School of Law. This appointment seeks to develop additional expertise in innovation, data and patent law, with a view to broaden CREATe’s footprint within the School of Law.
For all three positions, there is an expectation to identify future academic leaders who will seek to develop these opportunities into permanent positions.
The positions have different closing dates, but all three posts are expected to be interviewed between 1st and 3rd July 2019. It is possible to apply both for the postdocs and the IP lectureship.

The creative economy positions are posts that are expected to make a leading contribution to the AHRC-funded Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre (PEC). The PEC is a UK-wide consortium, led by Nesta, with a prominent policy profile in the context of the UK government’s industrial policy agenda. This provides an ideal springboard for an impactful academic career. Appointees to the project will work with Professors Martin Kretschmer, Gillian Doyle and Philip Schlesinger, who are building a multi-disciplinary team to which we are making two appointments with complementary skills. The creative economy positions are part of a cross-College project. The two appointees will become members of CREATe, the UK Copyright and Creative Economy Centre in the School of Law and the Centre for Cultural Policy Research in the School of Culture and Creative Arts. Specifically, the jobs require expert knowledge in any one or more of the following areas: intellectual property and information law, economics, management, media sociology, audiovisual industries and policies, cultural and media policies.
The successful candidates will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this project as opportunities allow. Depending on the anchor disciplines of the successful applicants, mentoring arrangements and career development opportunities with departments across the University will be explored.
